Samskip is one of the largest transport companies in Europe with operations in more than 30 countries in Europe, North and South America, Asia, and Australia. It employs around 1.500 people worldwide. The headquarters of Samskip are in the Netherlands and since its establishment in Iceland in 1991 it has expanded rapidly, both through internal growth and the acquisition of other companies. The company's main business is based on container shipments in Europe, shipments in the North Atlantic, temperature controlled shipments worldwide, as well as freight forwarding and bulk shipments in Europe.
