Here you can find information about the laws, insurance and terms that apply to the transport of shipments within the country.
When calculating freight charges, one cubic meter is calculated as 350 kg. If the converted weight per cubic meter is less than 350 kg, a volume calculation is used. It’s the product of: quantity of items * length * width * height.
If the recipient wishes to make a comment about the disappearance or damage to the shipment, it must be reported within 48 hours. from its reception.
The terms of service of the Association of Trade and Services apply to all services of the domestic department of Samskip other than land transport:
Cargo insurance in domestic transport
Samskip inlandas and Sjóvá-Almennar tiggera have signed an agreement for the benefit of Samskip inlandas customers.
With the agreement, all shipments transported with Samskip inland are insured. The insurance cover is based on the value of goods up to ISK 10,000,000. If the value of the shipment exceeds ISK 10,000,000. must be insured separately.
Shipments are insured according to the insurance terms of Sjóvá transport insurance. The price for this insurance coverage is ISK 100. with VAT and the fee is part of the company's service fee (due to transport). For these additional shipping costs, the cargo owner receives insurance that is well beyond the compensation guaranteed to him in the Land Transport Act.
